Photographer’s Note: Diocletian’s palace in Split, Croatia is an ancient palace built for the Roman emperor Dioclentia at the turn of the fourth century AD, which today forms about half the old town in Split. This tourist site is beautiful and interesting but is often mobbed with tourists and vendors. While exploring the ruins of the palace, I heard echoed singing and followed it to this open-air domed building. Four men were singing beautiful classic Croatian songs in the arch way. As I stood there to take it all in, I looked up and caught this beautiful view. I love the colors and textures in this image. The blues are so vibrant and you can almost feel the sun shining on you. The memory of this place is so clear that I can almost hear the men singing when I spend time with this print.
