Photographer’s Note: This image was captured in Lower Manhattan near the Hudson River with Jersey City, New Jersey in the background. While most people don’t think of New York City as a place with interesting flora and fauna, there is a lot to see if look in the small spaces between the concrete jungle.
As this photo shows, when you find a slice of natural world in NYC, it is often quite beautiful. I intentionally took this photo from an angle so that the glasses nearly obscure the buildings in the background. Nature might not be winning in the city, but it is triumphant in this photograph.
